Lessons from Toyota on building a learning organization
Because of the intense competition among companies in the manufacturing sector, six-sigma and lean process were emerging tools applied to guarantee a firm’s competitiveness on build quality, with minimum waste and fast products. Japaneses had demonstrated superior performance when compared with their U.S. competitors on speed to market, design quality, product-design manufacturability, cost, and productivity. The key for Japaneses’ success was integration of its many business functions with product design and manufacturing- process design.
